The 15th Seminar on Chinese Moral Education was held from 4 to 11 July2017, with the College motto "Cheng Ming (誠明)" as the theme. About sixty participants came from schools and units of various parts of Mainland China including Beijing, Heilongjiang, Shaanxi, Jiangxi, Hubei, Sichuan, Shandong, Inner Mongolia and Guangdong.
Six talks relating to Chinese Moral Education were held during the seminar, delivered by the following speakers: Prof. Qian Xun and Prof. Huang Xiuqing from the Beijing Oriental Morality Institute, Prof. Chan Wing Hoi from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Prof. Fan Ruiping from the City University of Hong Kong, Prof. Liu Xiaogan from the Research Centre for Chinese Philosophy and Culture of the Department of Philosophy at CUHK and Fr. Tsui Kam Yiu from the Hong Kong Catholic Institute for Religion and Society.
In addition to lectures, we arranged visits to local schools and organizations, namely the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, New Asia Middle School, Po Leung Kuk Stanley Ho Sau Nan Primary School, ICAC Headquarters and the Red Cross Headquarters. During these, participants gained a deeper understanding of the moral-education curriculum in Hong Kong. Teachers from local schools were invited to sharing sessions on 8 July to introduce programs related to moral education in their schools. This was an excellent platform for sharing experiences with their local counterparts. Participants report they have found these sessions deeply fruitful and inspiring.
