Professor Jao Tsung-I, ICS Honorary Professor and the Wei Lun Honorary Professor of Fine Arts, named Associate Foreign Member of Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres Institut de France
Professor Jao Tsung-I, ICS Honorary Professor and the Wei Lun Honorary Professor of Fine Arts, was officially conferred the honour of being named an Associate Foreign Member of Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres Institut de France on 19 September 2013. Congratulations to Professor Jao for this impressive achievement.

Completion of service of ICS Director Shun Kwong-loi and Retirement of Director of Art Museum
With effect from 31 July 2013, Professor Shun Kwong Loi and Professor Lam Yip Keung have completed their service at the Institute of Chinese Studies and Art Museum, respectively. Professor Lam has served the Art Museum for over 40 years. We sincerely express our gratitude to both Professor Shun and Professor Lam for their invaluable contributions to the Institute over the years. 

New Director and Associate Director, Institute of Chinese Studies
Professor Archie Lee Chi Chung has been appointed as Director of the Institute of Chinese Studies with effect from 1 August 2013, and Professor Lai Chi Tim has been named ICS Associate Director.

New Director and Associate Directors, Art Museum
Professor Jenny So Fong Suk has been appointed as the new Art Museum Director, succeeding Professor Lam Yip Keung. Professor Xu Xiao Dong and Professor Josh Yiu have been named Associate Directors of the Art Museum.

Appointment of Institute of Chinese Studies Fellow
The Institute of Chinese Studies has announced the appointment of Professor Edward L. Shaughnessy (BA, MA, PhD) as an ICS Fellow for a three-year term beginning 1 August 2013. Professor Shaughnessy is the Lorraine J. and Herrlee G. Creel Distinguished Service Professor in Early Chinese Studies and Department Chair, East Asian Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago. He is also an ICS Visiting Professor in 2013-2014, and recently delivered a public lecture.

New Director of Universities Service Centre for China Studies 
With effect from 1 September 2013, Professor Joseph Chan is the new Director of the Universities Service Centre for China Studies.

New Director of two affiliated units, Chinese Music Archive and Chinese Opera Information Centre 
Professor Lee Tong Soon, Chairman of the Music Department, has been appointed as the Director of two ICS-affiliated units, namely, the Chinese Music Archive and Chinese Opera Information Centre.
