The First Lecture of the "New Asia College Cultural Talks", jointly organised by New Asia College and the New Asia College Alumni Association and co-organised by New Asia Middle School, was held at the school hall of New Asia Middle School on 16 September 2017. It was our honor to have invited as our speaker Prof. Lee Ou-fan, CUHK Sin Wai Kin Professor of Chinese Culture, ICS Honorary Senior Research Fellow, and Founding Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of the Humanities.
The talk was titled "A Profile of the Literary Intellectuals of the Early Republican Period", and was moderated by Prof. Henry NC Wong, Head of New Asia College. The lecture was well received and widely supported by the community, not to mention the large number of College trustees and alumni who attended the event despite their busy schedules. Prof. Ho depicted in simple words the profile of the literary intellectuals of the Early Republican Period. Stepping into the stories he shared felt like stepping into another age. The lecture received an enthusiastic response from the contented audience and inspired fruitful discussion between the speaker and the audience at the Q&A session.
