Hong Kong Explorer Series (Spring 2019)

Have you ever spent time tracing the fragments of this city's history? In Spring Semester 2019, the "Hong Kong Explorer Series" will organise various guided tours, exploring with you the history of historic buildings, cultural meaning of traditional practice and the depth of ruins. Before the silent past is submerged in perpetual transition, let us once again embrace the subtle corners in this city.

Featuring the museum's special exhibition, the guided tour will elaborate on history of the Beiyang warlords as well as China's political development in the late Qing and early Republican periods. It will also introduce to participants selected items from the collections of local and overseas museums.

Talking about death has been a taboo in Chinese society. Expounding on the history and transformation of deathcare services in Central and Sheung Wan, the guided tour will help participants to rethink the cultural significance of death and funeral traditions to the community.

Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal Guided Tour

Participants will learn about the history and operations of Hong Kong Judiciary, and have a chance to explore different areas of the Court of Final Appeal Building—an architectural heritage that has served for various functions since 1912.

 

 

Ruins in the City: The Forgotten Corner of Mount Parker

Getting away from this bustling city, the guided tour will bring participants to Mount Parker, telling stories about the days when cable car system was used, tracing remnants of military facilities and wartime stoves, and exploring the forgotten history in this tranquil woodland.
