More than 150 participants including alumni and their family members joined this camp. The College held campus tours and art workshops for alumni to learn about the latest developments of the University and the College, and to experience the hostel life of current students while reminiscing about their own college days and sharing happy moments with their family members.
Homecoming camps were organised twice in 2014 and 2016 respectively, and were well received by alumni. Since the camp in 2016, on top of Daisy Li Hall, the other three hostels namely Chih Hsing Hall, Xuesi Hall and Grace Tien Hall were all open for booking by alumni. The camp was organised again this year, and an additional "NA Water Tower Visit" was specially arranged in celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the College. Students were also welcome to sign up for the visit to unveil the mysterious NA Water Tower.
In fact, what the alumni wanted most when revisiting their alma mater was to reminisce about the good old days while strolling through the campus. Knowing this, the College arranged various little activities for alumni to participate as they pleased. Some chose to spend a happy afternoon in the New Asia Canteen with a glass of the signature red bean ice while chatting away with their old friends, while some preferred to join the Shaving Cream Postcard Workshop or the Latte Art Workshop with their family members. Sports were not forgotten. The College made available sports facilities for the campers to play table tennis, badminton and basketball, etc.
On the first day of the camp, the College organised various activities including Shaving Cream Postcard Workshop, Latte Art Workshop, CUHK Campus Tour, New Asia College Campus Tour, Art Museum Tours, New Asia Botanic Tour, and NA Water Tower Visit. Sports facilities were also open for the campers to play table tennis, badminton and basketball, etc.
Besides, the College prepared a selfie machine for alumni to capture memorable moments.
Later in the evening, the participants joined our Acting College Head Professor Chu Ka-hou and representatives of the NACAA at a dinner banquet, followed by a group photo-taking session at the New Asia Amphitheatre after the dinner.
The campers said their farewells on the next day. Seeing the alumni enjoy a wonderful weekend at their alma mater made all preparation work worthwhile. The College hopes to hold similar activities in the future, so that more alumni could return to the campus to relive their College memories while having the chance to pass on the New Asia spirit and tradition to their children.
