CAS Academicians Visitorship Programme 2009 |
A delegation led by Prof. Li Jiayang, Vice-President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) from 23 to 28 February for the "Academicians Visitorship Programme" to understand the latest development of medicine and bioscience of CUHK and exchange of academic ideas through lecture, discussion and laboratory visit. |

Lecture by Secretary of CPC Henan Provincial Committee |
On 19 February, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) was honoured to have Mr. Xu Guangchun, the Secretary of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee visited CUHK. Mr. Xu gave a public lecture on "History of Henan Province, a perspective on the relationship between culture and economy". Prof. Lawrence J. Lau, Vice-Chancellor gave a welcoming speech during the lecture.
In the lecture, Mr. Xu talked about Henan's history and its rapid development in the past few decades. He also analyzed the relationship between culture and economic development of the province. The talk was well-received by more than 200 audience including senior officials, politicians, entrepreneurs and scholars. |

CUHK Vice Chancellor Visits Peking University |
Prof. Lawrence J. Lau, Vice-Chancellor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Prof. Sammuel Sun, Master-designate of S. H. Ho College visited Peking University on 23 February. They met with Prof. Zhou Qifeng, President of Peking University and Prof. Lu Xiaodong of Yuanpei College and signed agreements for student exchange. |

President of Southeast University Visits CUHK |
Prof. Yi Hong, President of Southeast University, led a four-member delegation to visit the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 27 February 2009. They met with Prof. Lawrence J. Lau, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry Wong, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, and Prof. Ho Puay-peng, Chairman of the Department of Architecture.
In the visit, Prof. Lawrence J. Lau and Prof. Yi Hong signed a renewal agreement for academic exchange between the two universities. The visit strengthened mutual understanding and achieved the objectives of establishing friendship and promoting academic cooperation. |

Delegation from Hubei Provincial Department of Education |
On 20 February, Mr. Xu Jinshan, Deputy Director-general, Hubei Provincial Department of Education led a 20-member delegation to visit CUHK. The delegation was composed of representatives from Hubei Provincial Department of Education, professors and administrators from nine higher education institutions in Hubei Province.
The delegation had a meeting with Prof. Henry Wong, Pro-Vice-Chancellor to learn about the research and development of CUHK. They also met with representatives from the Office of Student Affairs and discussed issues in student management and training of CUHK. The visit included a campus tour which showed the delegates some campus sceneries and landmarks. |

CUHK Participates in Earthquake Relief and Research Work in Nanba, Sichuan |
To facilitate earthquake relief work in Sichuan, the School of Public Health of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) established partnerships with the Department of Anthropology of Sun Yat-sen University, Sichuan Institute of Nationality Studies, the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Bureau of Pingwu County in Sichuan, and the Hong Kong Concordia Welfare and Education Foundation to launch a new workstation at the town of Nanba in Pingwu County, Sichuan. Nanba has been severely affected by the earthquake. |

Budding Scholars from Tsinghua University visited United College, CUHK |
A 10-member delegation from Tsinghua University visited United College, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) under the College's Budding Scholars Exchange Programme from February 10 – 19. The students from Tsinghua University conducted a presentation on 18 February on the topic of "The Impact of the Beijing Olympics on China's Societal and Social Development". Apart from presenting their research results, the delegation also visited different government departments and organisations such as the 2009 East Asian Games (Hong Kong) Limited, Planning Department, Legislative Council, the Hong Kong Jockey Club and the Hong Kong Museum of History. |

A delegation from Chu Kochen Honors College of Zhejiang University, headed by their Acting Dean, Professor Chen Jin, visited United College and Shaw College, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) from 22 to 25 February 2009. They met with Prof. Fung Kwok-pui, head of United College and Prof. Joseph Sung, head of Shaw College to discuss about the China Internship Programme, a tripartite project to be held this summer. |

Student Exchange Programme |
In 2003, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) signed agreements to launch student exchange partnership programme with seven major universities in the mainland: Fudan University, Nanjing University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tsinghua University, Xian Jiaotong University, and Zhejiang University. Since then, CUHK has sent more than 250 students to the mainland universities and has accepted about 400 mainland students for semester-long or year-long exchanges.
Through the student exchange programmes, student can enrich their life experience and broaden their cultural awareness. It is an invaluable opportunity for academic and personal growth.
