To heighten the collaboration between the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), Prof. Huang Daren, President of SYSU, led a delegation to visit CUHK on 21 October. The delegation met with Prof. Lawrence Lau, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK, senior representatives of Arts, Engineering, Science, and the Institute of Chinese Medicine.

Academic Symposium on Chemical Biology, co-organised by the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Department of Life Science and the Department of Chemical Science of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) was held on 28 - 29 October. This was the second symposium the two parties co-organised in Hong Kong. The theme of the last one is Bio-informatics and its Applications.

Pro. Qin Dahe, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director, State Key Laboratory of Cryoshperic Sciences, visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) from 13 - 19 October as the United College Distinguished Visiting Scholar in 2008-09.

Shanghai-Hong Kong Innovation and Transfer of Science & Technology Forum 2008, co-organised by Shanghai Science and Technology Development and Exchange Centre and Beijing-Hong Kong Academic Exchange Centre, was held from 15 - 18 October. The delegation included Mr. Cao Guo-ying, Assistant to Director-General of Education, Science and Technology Department, Liaison Office of the Central people's Government in HKSAR, Prof. P.C. Ching, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kung Hsiang-fu, CAS Academician and Professor of Virology, Prof. K.T. Chan and Prof. H.K. Tsang of Department of Electronic Engineering of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and scholars from other universities.

A 7-member delegation led by Prof. Zhang Shaojie, Vice-President of Northeast Normal University visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 31 October. The delegation met with Prof. P.W. Liu, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK, Dr. Victor Lee, Director, School of Continuing and Professional Studies, and some department chairmen.

Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Ministry of Education, and Education, Science and Technology Department, Liaison office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR jointly organised the 10th Higher Education Management Training Programme in Tsinghua University from 8 - 15 October.
