The 4th Summer Institute for Mainland Higher Education Executives was held at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) from August 7 to 13. A total of 55 executives from the following 14 mainland universities (in alphabetical order) participated in the programme:
Central China Normal University, East China Normal University, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Nankai University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shandong University, Sichuan University, South China Normal University, Sun Yat-sen University, Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology of China, Zhejiang University
Mr. Zhang Zongming, Deputy Inspector of the Education, Science and Technology Department, Liaison Office of The Central People's Government in the HKSAR and Prof. Wong Suk-Ying, Associate Vice-President of CUHK welcomed the participating executives at the opening ceremony. The proramme comprised a series of lectures and visits through which participants obtained a better understanding about the various areas of work of the University and other local institutions, ranging from the college system, academic exchange, student affairs, human resource management, alumni affairs, institutional advancement, operation of graduate school, registration and examination system, to the development of scientific research. The participants also acquired knowledge and exchanged ideas on the development of university management in mainland China and Hong Kong. Prof. Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK presented certificates to all participants at the closing ceremony, recognizing the fruitful outcome of the programme.
With the aim of enhancing communication between university executives from mainland China and Hong Kong, the Office of Academic Links (China) first organizes this training programme in 2013. This annual event serves to establish friendship and strengthen interaction between the executives of CUHK and its partner universities, paving the way for further collaboration.
