The 7th meeting of Steering Committee on Partnership Development between The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) was held on 2 December in CUHK.
The meeting was co-chaired by Prof. Zhu Xiping, Vice President of SYSU and Prof. Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK. At the meeting, members of joint projects in Oncology, Computer Sciences and Information Engineering, Biochemistry, Historical Anthropology, Sociology, Water Resources, Law, Gastroenterology, Food Safety, Mathematics, Academic Exchanges and Student Affairs reported the progresses of the projects and reviewed the possibilities to facilitate deep collaboration. Both parties also took the opportunity to renew the university-wide MOU and the academic exchange agreement between the School of Life Sciences in SYSU and CUHK.
SYSU is one of the major strategic partners of CUHK. Since the establishment of partnership in 1981, CUHK and SYSU have carried out a wide range of collaborative projects in student exchange, research collaboration and academic program. In 2006, CUHK established the State Key Laboratory in Oncology in South China in collaboration with SYSU. In 2011, CUHK-SYSU Centre for Historical Anthropology was launched as the first national-level joint research center in humanities and social sciences in CUHK and Hong Kong. In 2013, both parties established the Cooperative Innovation Center for Partnership Development among Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland China to forge synergistic collaboration. The Steering Committee on Partnership Development was set up by the two universities in 2007 to forge effective and sustainable relationship.
