Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau-Hainan Forum for Academic Exchange Heads 2016 was held in Haikou of Hainan Province on May 20. Over 110 participants, including representatives from the Education Departments of Guangdong and Hainan Provinces, the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Macau, ten Hong Kong tertiary institutions and 34 mainland and Macau institutions, attended the event. Ms Samantha Wong, Assistant Director of Academic Links (China) of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) participated in the Forum on behalf of the University.
Participants exchanged ideas on the policies and development of nurturing talents and research collaboration in tertiary institutions among mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau. Topics of discussion include latest employment trends of enterprises , participation of tertiary institutions in national and international major collaboration projects, international exchange links and innovative ideas on the joint nurturing of local and overseas students as well as inter-institution research collaboration. The forum provided opportunity for participants to obtain valuable knowledge of the recent development in tertiary education sector and to establish stronger links for further cooperation.
The forum is an annual event to exchange views and enhance communication from a wide range of perspectives of higher education between academic exchange excecutives in Hong Kong, Guangdong and Macau,. CUHK served as the convener for the forum in 2009 and 2010. This year, Hainan Province joined the forum and organized the event for the first time.
