Holiday Reminder: 5 DOs before Your Chinese New Year Holiday

The Lunar New Year is just around the corner! To make your holiday go smoothly, please take note of the following security suggestions:

  1. Shut down your PCs for not just energy saving but against hacking attempts, as PCs left unattended over the long holiday are sweet targets for hackers. Review your computing need and consider other methods to complete your task remotely.
  2. Ensure you have access to emailto receive emergency messages from the University, particularly if you are travelling abroad! Refer to our instructions for checking emails on a trusted computer/smartphone.
  3. Set your email auto-reply wisely!  Outlook allows you to set different auto-reply messages to internal colleagues and outsiders. The former could receive detailed information, while outsiders should get the bare minimum.
  4. Be aware of phishing emails! As always, stay diligent and refer to our article, What Fraud CUHKers Could Have Met, for practical tips.
  5. Secure your laptop and accessories from lost, such as a USB thumb drive, by locking them.

Enjoy your holiday!
