Research and Deep Collaboration with Mainland and Taiwan Partners

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) has been active in academic exchange since its establishment.  The Committee of Academic Links (CAL) was established in 1991 to advise on the directions for linkage development and to formulate strategic plans for academic collaboration with higher institutions and organizations outside Hong Kong.  Office of Academic Links (China) [OALC] is committed to implementing CAL's policy guidelines for academic links development of the University and to facilitating the development of partnership and deep research collaborations with mainland and Taiwan institutions.

 

OALC acts as a central coordinating agent among the Faculty/ School/ Department/ Units and relevant potential partners to facilitate the establishment of collaborative initiatives.

 

Stages

I. Initiation

Explore possibilities of establishing deep collaboration projects in visits and exchange activities

Help organize academic activities and provide logistic support

II. Feasibility Study

·      Obtain in-depth knowledge of relevant research fields

·      Identify specific areas and/or projects

·      Organize exploratory visits and meetings

·      Initiate contacts with relevant officials

III. Formulation

Formulate and finalize collaboration proposals

Provide suggestions and information for reference

IV. Approval

Go through approval procedures

Liaise with internal and external parties/relevant authorities to facilitate approval seeking process

V. Kick-off

Prepare for the official launch of the collaborative project

·      Plan and organize establishment ceremony

·      Provide logistic support for mainland and Taiwan partners

·      Coordinate publicity
