Co-organized by the Authority of Qianhai and Chinese Association of Hong Kong and Macao Studies, the "Qianhai Co-operation Forum" was held in Shenzhen on July 5. Prof. Rocky Tuan, Vice-Chancellor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), joined the Forum with CUHK members including Prof. Wong Suk-ying, Associate Vice President; Ms Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China) and Mr. Perkins Ho, Head of Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation Team, Office of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services.
Nearly 1,000 participants including representatives from the government, industries, academia and research sectors were attracted to the Forum which was themed "Setting Off from Reformation, Promoting Quality Development to explore opportunities in reinforcing cooperation between Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao in the process of reformation. Officiating guests at the opening ceremony included Mr Tung Chee Hwa and Mr. Ho Hau-wah, Vice-Chairmen of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
Two parallel sessions were held during the event, with foci on four themes encompassing Institutional Innovation and Integration, Financial Co-operation, Technology and Cultural Innovation, and Youth Development. Prof. Tuan give a presentation on the innovation and technology in CUHK to share with the participants the University's core entrepreneural support as well as innovation and research achievements.
CUHK always adopts a liberal policy on research undertakings that allow breadth and depth. Standard of the University's scientific research has been well received internationally. Its research activities cover dimensions laterally to encompass all subjects that are offered at CUHK, vertically to integrate staff research with teaching, and longitudinally to range from upstream research to midstream development. The co-operation forum formed a good platform for CUHK to promote its latest development of innovation and technology , consolidating ties between the industries, academia and research sectors in the region for partnership growth.
