The Core Group under I·CARE Achievers Programme: Progress Update

The 30 core group members of the I·CARE Achievers Programme of this academic year have started organising various activities for themselves as well as for other CUHK students upon completion of three induction activities (namely "Training Day Camp on Leadership and Team-building", "Retreat Day" and "Workshop on Value Clarification") and the division of four small teams in accordance with their own interest (namely hiking, marathon, farming and camping).  Each small team was assigned with a mentor who had already been invited by the students to have a meet-up.

The aforementioned activities include regular visits to Lai Chi Wo in February-April by the farming team and a wild camp organised by the camping team at the Gilwell Campsite of Scout Association of Hong Kong on the 11th-12th of this month.  While students of the former had learnt different farming skills (e.g. weeding, ploughing and fertilising) and commenced to grow corns on the field, the latter camp was enriched with numerous items like cooking, stargazing and orienteering.  As for the hiking team, students already conducted a trial run at Wu Kau Tang in order to facilitate their smooth cooperation with the farming team to launch a joint activity in early-June.

Meanwhile, many core group members have taken up another challenging task of the I·CARE Achievers Programme - the Extensive Reading Scheme.  They are required to read books proposed by the following erudite persons to broaden their intellectual horizon, thereby extend their holistic development.
