The 20th Training Course on Management of Mainland Higher Education was held in Tsinghua University on 9 – 16 October. A total of 35 academic and executive staff members from 11 local tertiary institutions, including The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), participated in the programme. The six participants of CUHK were from Morningside College, Institutional Advancement Office, Information Technology Services Centre, Human Resources Office, Faculty of Arts and Office of Acadmic Links (China).
The eight-day training programme, jointly organized by Tsinghua University and the Department of Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government (LOCPG) in the HKSAR, comprised a series of lectures covering a wide variety of topics related to the education, political, economic, social, diplomatic, and judiciary developments of mainland China, as well as issues concerning Hong Kong such as the Belt and Road Initiative and the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Apart from the lectures, participants also met with representatives of Tsinghua University to share experience in administration and management in higher education. Visits were paid to understand the history and future blueprint of Beijing, as well as the role of information technology in the development of future education. The programme provided a great opportunity for participants to obtain in-depth knowledge of the recent developments on the mainland, and facilitated exchange of academic and executive members in the tertiary education sector from the two regions.
