AWARDS AND HONOURS

The "RGC Collaborative Research Fund 2014-15" obtained by School members

Coordinated by our School members, two group research proposals have been selected for the "Research Grants Council (RGC) Collaborative Research Fund (CRF) 2014-15".

Prof. Andrew M.L. Chan, Professor of our School, obtained a total of HKD5.3 million for the collaborative project with The University of Hong Kong titled "Elucidating the molecular defects associated with PTEN mutations in Autism Spectrum Disorders".  In addition, Prof. Alfred S.L. Cheng, Associate Professor of our School, was awarded HKD7.4 million for another collaborative project with The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology named "Functional Liver Cancer Epigenomics: Exploiting Epigenetic Vulnerabilities for Therapeutics".

The CRF is served to encourage inter-institutional collaborative research across disciplines with a view to enhancing the research output of respective institutions. The result is indeed a remarkable achievement of the School, as the two projects led by our School members accounted for over 30% out of the six proposals funded in this exercise with CUHK being the coordinating institution. We would like to extend our hearty congratulations to Prof. Chan and Prof. Cheng for their continued hard-work and commitment in research.
