Visit of Vice President of China Association for Science and Technology

A delegation led by Prof. Chen Zhangliang, Vice President of China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) led a delegation to the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 8 November 2013 to understand the research development of CUHK.

The delegation met with Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Samuel Sun, Research Professor of Biology; Prof. Zhang Jianhua, Director of Partner State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology(CUHK), and Prof. Lam Hon-ming, Associate Director of the Lab. The delegates visited the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) where they met with Prof. Christopher Cheng, Associate Director of SBS and toured the research facilities.  Through the visit, the delegates gained more information about the recent research developments of CUHK and explored collaboration opportunities with academic members of the University. The visit also enhanced ties between the two parties for further collaboration.

Delegation from University System of Taiwan

A delegation led by Prof. Wing-Huen Ip, Vice-President of the University System of Taiwan (UST) paid a visit to the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 20 November 2013 to discuss collaboration plan with CUHK.

Prof. Ip met with Prof. Gordon Cheung, Associate-Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK; Prof. Leung Yuen-sang, Dean of Arts; Prof. C.P. Wong, Dean of Engineering; and Prof. Henry Wong, Dean of Science. The delegation also had meetings with representatives from various departments and discussed possible collaborative plans in the fields of arts and humanities, engineering, mathematics, microbiology, statics and social sciences.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and to build up links to consolidate further collaboration.
