I·CARE Hong Kong Cultural Tours Project: Recruitment of Members

Hong Kong has a pivotal role in international context.  Not only does this city occupy an important position in the history of modern China, it is also inextricably linked with countries around the world.  Nevertheless, how much do you know about the stories of this "Pearl of the East"?

Organised by this Centre, the I·CARE Hong Kong Cultural Tours Project is now recruiting members for this academic year.  Admitted students will receive a series of professional training (e.g. tour guiding techniques, communication skills, and tactics of shooting) before being engaged in field trips on designated routes.  They will then be given chances to lead cultural tours serving secondary school students to unveil the hidden side of Hong Kong.  Details are as follows:

Tour Theme and District Studied


   

1. Lives of Fishermen in the Past after the Conflagration (Shau Kei Wan)
2. Inheritance and Preservation of Hong Kong's Intangible Cultural
    Heritage (Jordan)
3. The Aspect of Grassroots in West Island (Sai Ying Pun)
4. Development of Public Transport in Hong Kong (Central and Tsim Sha
    Tsui)

Target and Requirement

1. All full-time CUHK students
2. Fluent in Cantonese, literate in Chinese
3. Interested in local history and culture
4. Responsible, passionate to serve, and caring about the society

30 (selected by interview)
