A delegation led by Prof. Fanny Cheung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) visited Beijing from 17 to 19 December to strengthen academic linkage and discuss collaborative initiatives with universities and research organizations in Beijing.

Professor Cheung paid visits to the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Peking University (PKU), Tsinghua University and Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). The delegation met with Mr. MA Linying, Director-General of the Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs, MOST; Mr. Cui Yuting, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Basic Research, MOST; Mr. Guo Zhiwei, Deputy Director-General of the Office of Innovation System, MOST; Prof. He Ming Hong, Vice President of NSFC; Prof. Liu Wei, Executive Vice President of PKU; Prof. Han Jingyang, Deputy Party Secretary of Tsinghua University; Prof. Cui Xiliang, President of BLCU. Discussions were held on a variety of collaboration projects ranging from joint research units to academic exchange activities and international events. This outgoing visit of CUHK deepened mutual understanding between CUHK and its partner institutions and research organizations in Beijing.

The meetings provided a valuable opportunity for the University and its partners in Beijing to update each other on the latest developments and devise plans on various academic strengths, which consolidated existing collaborative efforts and enhanced ties for future cooperation.
