The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) held the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) Academicians Visit Programme cum Lecture Series from 11 to 14 December 2018 on campus. Two distinguished academicians were invited to CUHK this year, including Professor Lin Dongxin and Professor Zhang Yingze from the Division of Medicine and Health. They delivered public lectures and met with CUHK representatives to discuss collaboration opportunities in oncology and orthopaedics.
The delegates were warmly received by CUHK senior management members including Professor Rocky Tuan, Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Fanny Cheung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Henry Chan, Assistant Faculty Dean (Global Engagement) of Medicine. Meetings were held to provide updates on the recent development of the University. On 12 December, the two academicians delivered public lectures for the Lecture Series by Academicians to share their experience and expertise in their respective fields of research. More than one hundred people including academics, researchers and students from CUHK were attracted to the lectures.
The academicians also paid visits to various teaching and research units of CUHK, such as the Sir Yue Kong Pao Centre for Cancer, the Musculoskeletal Research Laboratory, and the Orthopaedic Learning Centre. During the visits, they met with relevant faculty members to exchange ideas and explore possibilities for further research collaboration.
The CAE Academicians Visit Programme was launched by the University in 2008 to promote academic exchange with CAE and to enhance research competitiveness of the University. Details of this year's visit programme can be found here.
