CUHK Jointly Organizes Chinese Musical Performance with Tsinghua University
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) co-organized a modern Chinese orchestral performance night with Tsinghua University at Mong Man Wai Concert Hall of Tsinghua University on 27 December 2017. A total of 16 students from the Department of Music and the Chinese Music Ensemble joined hands to bring musical enjoyment to the full audience of over 500 guests, comprising students, staff, alumni and collaborators of Hong Kong and mainland China.
A number of Chinese and Western classical tracks were performed by the students at the night. Miss Michelle Siu, Year 2 student of CUHK's Department of Music, sung some of the tracks. The Chinese Music Ensemble rearranged some of the renowned tracks to be firstly performed in public. Participating students also took the opportunity to interact with Tsinghua students, and visited famous cultural and artistic places in the capital city.
CUHK has been collaborating closely with Tsinghua University recently in student interflow activities. In 2017, both universities held a Joint Orchestral Performance in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) in May, and organized an Inter-School Choral Performance with Peking University and National Taiwan University in November. Special thanks shall be given to GS Foundation for their generous support for this student delegation, which contributed to the cultivation of closer friendship between students in Hong Kong and Beijing via cultural exchange.
