To ensure that the University's academic priorities are supported through the linkage partnerships and programs, the Committee of Academic Links (CAL) has been established in 1991 to advise on the directions for linkage development and to formulate strategic plans for academic collaboration with higher institutions outside Hong Kong. The Office of Academic Links (China) [OALC] is committed to implement CAL's policy guidelines for academic links development of the University and is devoted to facilitating the development of exchange partnership with institutions in the mainland and Taiwan.

With the aim of developing partnership and linkages at the University/ Faculty/ Departmental level with institutions in the mainland and Taiwan, the Office of Academic Links (China) [OALC] facilitated the formulation, review, and approval seeking procedure of academic exchange agreements with institutions in the mainland and Taiwan.  During the year of 2012/2013, 66 agreements were signed. Among the signed MOUs, 43 were new partnerships and 23 were renewed agreements. The purposes of the agreements vary from general collaboration to specific academic exchanges initiatives.
