Following the 1st Joint Symposium which was held in March 2013 at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), the 2nd (2014) Joint Symposium on "Biomedical Research across the Continents – Insight and Innovation" was successfully held on 10 and 11 April 2014 at Tsinghua University in Beijing.

Jointly organized by Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G), Department of Anatomical and Cellular Pathology (ACP), Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (OVS) and School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) of the Faculty of Medicine, CUHK, the scientific meeting on "Genomic approaches to investigate clinical phenotypes" was successfully held on 28 April 2014 at the Postgraduate Education Centre, Prince of Wales Hospital.

Prof. Kenneth K.H. Lee, Chief of the Stem Cell and Regeneration Program and the Managing Director of the Core Laboratories of our School, has recently been awarded the "Diamond Jubilee International Visiting Fellowship" by the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, for a period of three years starting from 1 August 2014.

Mr. Lo Lok-man, Year 1 Ph.D. student under the supervision of Prof. Kenneth K.H. Lee, has recently won the 1st Runner-up Prize of FameLab Hong Kong 2014 organized by the British Council.

Following the establishment of "The Chinese University of Hong Kong – Shandong University (CUHK-SDU) Joint Laboratory on Reproductive Genetics" (the Joint Laboratory) in December 2013, Prof. Zhang Rong, President of Shandong University, led a delegation to visit the CUHK on 27 March 2014.

| Delegation Visit of the Chinese Academy of Sciences | |
Following last year's visit by Prof. Bai Chun-li, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), a 11-person delegation led by Prof. Zhang Ya-ping, Vice President of CAS visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 1 April 2014 to attend the 1st Meeting of the Steering Committee on Partnership Development between CUHK and CAS.
