Youth Climate Summit: Issues & Opportunities for Climate Action in Hong Kong - Saturday, October 12, 2019

Date: Saturday, October 12, 2019
Time: 10am to 4pm
Venue: Deloitte Asia Pacific, 35/F One Pacific Place, 88 Queensway, Hong Kong

The United Nations will hold a global Climate Summit in late September in New York City. We plan to hold our own Climate Summit in Hong Kong, as an echo event, by inviting environmental activists across the campuses and general NGOs in HK to meet in Admiralty to explore the potential for collective action on climate change. How can we assure that HK meets the commitments we made for carbon reduction in the Paris Accords in December 2015? We said we'd reduce carbon by 20% by 2020. Will we do it? Who is responsible to achieve this target? Let's do our bit in the coming year!

Green groups from all universities, colleges and secondary schools in HK are invited to share their ideas for grass roots activities. Individual participants are also welcome. Many self-organizing break-out groups will focus on climate topics you care about.

Come to the Climate Summit in HK, meet your counterparts across the campuses, and explore pathways for collective action! We support the YOUNGO (http://www.youthpolicy.org/), a global youth movement for climate action under SDG 13 and the sustainable development solutions network (SDSN) reduce carbon in HK.
