[Call for Proposals] CUHK SGPS PhD Admission Workshop 2025 (14 - 15 August 2025)

The School of Governance and Policy Science (SGPS) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is delighted to announce its PhD Admission Workshop 2025. This two-day workshop aims to attract master's students worldwide who have a strong research potential and are interested in applying to our PhD programme in Government and Public Administration, particularly through the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme.

About the Workshop
The workshop offers a unique opportunity for prospective PhD candidates to:
Present Research: Share your current research projects in a collegial setting and receive constructive feedback from SGPS faculty members and advanced PhD students.
Engage with Faculty: Meet individually with potential PhD supervisors to discuss research interests and explore possibilities for supervision.
Experience CUHK: Tour the CUHK campus, including visits to the Computational Social Science Lab, the University Library, and the Universities Service Centre Collection, to explore our facilities and resources.

Feedback and Networking: Gain valuable feedback on presented research, meet esteemed faculty members, and network with aspiring peers.
Accommodation and Meals: Complimentary accommodation and meals will be provided during the two-day workshop.
Travel Subsidy: International participants will receive a subsidy to assist with airfare expenses.

Eligibility Criteria
We welcome applications from students who:
• Are currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a research master's programme (or equivalent) in Political Science, Public Policy, or related fields;
• Demonstrate strong academic performance and research potential; and
• Are interested in applying to the SGPS PhD programme in Government and Public Administration in the 2026/27 academic year.

Application Requirements
To apply for the workshop, please submit the following:
1. Curriculum Vitae (CV): Detailing educational background, research experience, publications (if any), and contact information.
2. Research Paper: A complete working paper or writing sample for presentation during the workshop.
3. Statement of Purpose:
o A brief explanation of your research interests.
o Your motivation for pursuing a PhD at SGPS, CUHK.
o A discussion as to why attending the workshop aligns with your academic and professional goals.
4. English Proficiency Proof (if applicable): For non-native English speakers, please provide TOEFL or IELTS scores or equivalent. Nonofficial copies of the test scores are acceptable.
