The School's Korean Language Education and Culture Centre (KLECC) was given the title of King Sejong Institute by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea in July 2010.

Winning Praise |
This year's Hong Kong Book Fair had a special significance for Wong Chun-yin, graduate of the Higher Diploma Programme in Commercial Design, whose first book 《開枱喇!》(Let's Play Mahjong) was on sale during the event. He beat thousands of candidates to become one of the eight winners of the "3rd Young Writer Debut Competition". "It is incredible! This gives me great satisfaction when I see readers flip through and purchase my book," Chun-yi said. He gave special thanks to the School for the comprehensive programme which inspired and helped him acquire different design skills. He is now studying the Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication Design) Top-up Degree Programme jointly offered by our School and Griffith University, Australia.

Established in 2004, the CUSCS Service Excellence Award is an incentive scheme for front-line staff to achieve service excellence. The Award for Spring 2011 was awarded to Mr William Leung, IT Services Technician at the School's Tsimshatsui Oriental Learning Centre.

Worry About the New "334" Academic Structure?? |
CUSCS participated in the International Education Forum and Expo organised by the Education Bureau on 14-16 July aiming to familiarise parents and students with Hong Kong's new "334" academic structure. The School's booth introduced our Higher Diploma programmes and Top-up Degree programmes and displayed the wide range of activities available on campus.

Open Day in the "Heat" |
The Annual Open Day was held on 9 July to showcase a wide range of programmes and courses offered by the School and the achievements of our graduates and students. Dr Alman Siu-cheuk Chan, Principal of Christian Zheng Sheng College, was the keynote speaker at the opening seminar, "Lifelong Enhancement for a Fruitful Life". He shared with participants his experiences of studying in Canada, founding the Christian Zheng Sheng College and attaining his doctoral degree. He believed that everyone deserved a second chance to learn and to achieve.

Talks by Prudence Ngar-tuen Mak and Stanley Yun-hang Cheung |
The School was honoured to have Ms Prudence Ngar-tuen Mak, founder of Chocolate Rain Jewellery & Design, and Mr Stanley Yun-hang Cheung, a psychological trainer and counsellor and the survivor of the Pak Sin Leng hill fire in 1996, to be our guest speakers in two talks held in June. The audience were inspired by the accounts of their experience of success.

The School offered a training programme (第四屆黑龍江省普通高校領導香港高級研討班) for the Heilongjiang Education Department and several tertiary institutions in Heilongjiang from 23 May to 3 June. Over 20 senior administration staff, including the Bursars and Chief Accountants attended the programme.

It's Show Time |
18 graduates of the Higher Diploma Programme in Fashion Design and Product Development held a fashion show on 5 July at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and showcased more than 72 innovative garments. Renowned models, including Alice B, performed in the Show. It was also staged during the Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

Step Out to Discover the World |
The School has been striving to provide our students with overseas exchange and internship opportunities to widen their horizons and to strengthen their communication skills in English and Putonghua. This summer, the School set up a number of overseas exchange programmes, including the International Camp Counsellor Program in the United States, the Internship Programme at the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Chengdu, China, the Summer English Program at the University of Queensland, Australia, the Summer English Program at the University of New South Wales, Australia, the Summer English Program at the University of Toronto, Canada, the Summer English Programme at the University of Liverpool, England, and the Summer Aerospace Training in Beijing.

"Train" for Life's Journeys Programme 2011 |
The School collaborated with the MTR Corporation to offer the "Train" for Life's Journeys Programme 2011 to 100 selected SS5 (Form 5) graduates this summer. The two-week training programme provided the participants with the opportunity to broaden their horizons and build up confidence. 16 of our Higher Diploma students worked as group leaders or reporters.
