THM Student Received CMA's Scholarship |
Hung Pui-shan, a student of Higher Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management, completed her 3-month internship with the Pacific Club in summer last year. With her outstanding performance during the internship, Pui-shan was recommended by the Pacific Club to participate in "The Club Managers' Association of Hong Kong (CMA) Scholarship Programme" and won the scholarship of HK$ 25,000.

OLE for Secondary School Students |
CUSCS launched a series of "Other Learning Experience (OLE)" Workshops for more than 600 S4-S6 students coming from 33 schools. All workshops were facilitated by CUSCS lecturers. Among the 24 workshops that were offered, "Hotel Operations" and "Creative Design Workshop" were found to be the most popular ones.

Japan Education Expo and Fair |
CUSCS Japan Education Seminar and Education Fair was held with success on 24 February. The Fair provided local students with the latest information on education opportunities and career prospects in Japan. Over 20 Japanese education institutions participated in the Fair to showcase the diverse range of choices offered by institutions in Japan.

Re-opening of KLECC and 8th Korean Speech Contest |
To provide learners of the Korean language and culture a more convenient and quality environment, KLECC has now been relocated to the School's Central Learning Centre (Bank of American Tower, Central). Its Re-opening Ceremony together with the 8th Korean Speech Contest was held on 19 December, 2012.

Staff Retreat 2012 |
Staff Retreat 2012 with the theme of "Team Building" was held on 14 December, 2012 at Breakthrough Youth Village. Administrators learnt more about the School's strengths and weaknesses through games and presentation. Another two retreats for supporting staff were also held at Harbour Plaza Metropolis on 21 and 22 February. Themed "TEAM" (Together Everyone Achieves More), the retreats brought invaluable insights and joy to the staff.

CU Homecoming Day |
CUSCS' booth themed "Fun Fun Course" at the CUHK Homecoming Day, held on 2 December, 2012, was crowded with alumni playing at the game corner and putting on "Hanbok" (Korean traditional clothing). It was a great opportunity for all CU students, old and new, to mingle and network in a fun-filling event.

Step out to serve the community |
In order to help our students gain work experience and encourage them to serve the community, CUSCS launched the "Serve with a Purpose" Programme in collaboration with St. Jame's Settlement and VISA Hong Kong. 20 higher diploma students were selected and appointed to different service units in St. Jame's Settlement to provide 200 hours of voluntary services. Upon completion of the services, students received HK$10,000 as tuition support.

China Aerospace Science Study Tour |
27 HD students participated in a study tour to Beijing during 19-25 January. This study tour, which was funded by the Commission on Youth, was one of the programmes under "Community Participation Scheme for Organising Study Tours to the Mainland". This scheme aims at enhancing Hong Kong youths' awareness and understanding of their home country, fostering exchange with Mainland people and strengthening their sense of national identity.

Graduation Ceremony of the Education for the Elderly Course Series |
Over 160 graduates attended the Graduation Ceremony of the Education for the Elderly Course Series (Cycle 7) held at the Shaw College Lecture Theatre, CUHK on 8 January. The Programme was jointly organised by the School and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hong Kong (ELCHK). Dr. Rebecca Lee, President of the Hong Kong Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology, Mr. Lui Hing-chung, Chairman of the Elderly Service Management Committee of ELCHK, and Dr. Ella P.O. Chan, Director of the School, officiated at the Ceremony.

Higher Diploma Programmes Graduation Ceremony |
The Higher Diploma Programmes Graduation Ceremony was held at Sir Run Run Hall, CUHK, on 25 November, 2012. More than 1,800 guests, graduates and their family members came join us to celebrate. The Ceremony was divided into two sessions. The morning session was arranged for graduates of the Art, Music & the Humanities Division, the Information Technology & Environment Division, the Languages & Translation Division, the Social Sciences & Public Administration Division and the Traditional Chinese Medicine & Health Care Division. We were privileged to have Prof. Patrick S.Y. Lau, Professor of Department of Educational Psychology, Faculty of Education, CUHK, as the officiating guest.

Alumni Association Highlights |
CUSCS Alumni Association organised a CU Photo Trip on 17 November, 2012 and invited our lecturer and famous photographer Mr. Li Kee-ping to be our guest speaker. Our alumni were benefited from the sharing and instructions given by Mr. Li onsite. Please click here for details and photos.
