Cherished Memories at Peking University |
"Interacting with top students at Peking University and studying there was a valuable experience which served as a wake-up call for me. Students there love reading which help them to secure a good academic foundation. I learn from them and have started to read more and work harder." So said Sam Wan, a student of Higher Diploma Programme in Chinese, as he shared his most treasured experience at Peking University when he joined the exchange programme in September last year.

"Design Acts"—Higher Diploma Programme in Commercial Design Graduation Exhibition 2013 (26-29 July) |
37 graduates of Higher Diploma Programme in Commercial Design showcased their graduation projects at a graduate exhibition titled "Design Acts" held on 26-29 July at the Innovation Centre, Kowloon Tong. Over 400 pieces of work were put on display, ranging from graphic design, packaging, 3D-images to video. Chan Miu-ling and Ho Chau-wa were awarded the Best Design Award.

Fashion Show 2013 (9 July) |
19 graduates of Higher Diploma Programme in Fashion Design and Product Development* held a fashion show on 9 July at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and showcased more than 76 innovative garments. The show was staged during the Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

Rising Design Star |
Kenny Choi, a student of Higher Diploma Programme in Fashion Design Product Development*, won two awards at the 5th International Footwear Design Competition held at the China Import and Export Fair Pazhou Complex in Guangzhou. Kenny took home the Championship of Men's Shoes Individual title and the Sabatina Silver Award.

Two teams comprising eight students of Higher Diploma Programme in Business Studies won the Ngong Ping 360 Award and the CIM Marketing Award in the Best Innovation Awards 2013.

HKIAAT Accounting and Business Management Case Competition |
Four teams comprising 16 Higher Diploma students of the Business & Management Division won five awards at the HKIAAT Accounting and Business Management Case Competition 2012-2013, including the 1st Runner-up title, Best Business Proposal Award, Outstanding Performance Award and Proficiency Team Awards.

Tseung Kwan O Learning Centre Inauguration Ceremony (26 April) |
The
Inauguration Ceremony of the CUSCS Tseung Kwan O Learning Centre was
successfully held on 26 April. We were honoured to have Mrs. Tse Ling Kit-ching,
Permanent Secretary for Education of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region
Government, Professor Ho Puay-peng, Chairman for the Advisory Board of
Continuing and Professional Studies, CUHK, Mr. Terence C.W. Chan, Bursar of CUHK
and Dr. Ella Chan, Director of the School, officiating at the ceremony.

New Programme on Offer |
In order to enhance Mainland students' proficiency in English and improve their study skills for pursuing higher education in Hong Kong or overseas, CUSCS offers a full-time "Diploma Programme for International Tertiary Education Preparation" at the Continuing and Professional Education Centre at the CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute. Graduates of the Programme may advance to the Higher Diploma Programmes offered by CUSCS in Hong Kong.

Parents' Talks 2013 (June-July) |
The CUSCS parents' talks held in June and July were successfully concluded. We were privileged to have Professor Patrick S.Y. Lau, Professor of the Department of Educational Psychology, Faculty of Education of CUHK, Dr. Ella Chan, Director of the School, Dr. Chui Yat-hung, President of The Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association, and Dr. Ho Yuk-fan, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Association of Careers Masters and Guidance Masters, delivering talks. Over 500 parents attended the events.

Programme Consultation Open Day (8 June) |
The CUSCS Programme Consultation Open Day took place on 8 June at the Tseung Kwan O Learning Centre, the Tsimshatsui East Ocean Learning Centre and the Central Learning Centre. At the Tseung Kwan O Learning Centre, exhibitions and talks were held to showcase our students' achievements. The public took a close look at the School's facilities, including hotel training facilities and the Fashion Project Room. At the Tsimshatsui East Ocean Learning Centre and the Central Learning Centre, exhibitions and programme consultations were held to help the public map out a plan for lifelong learning.

CUSCS Participates in EDB Information Expo (4-5 May) |
The School participated in the "Information Expo on Multiple Pathways 2013" organised by the Education Bureau on 4-5 May at the Kowloon Bay International Trade & Exhibition Centre. At a sharing session entitled "Develop Your Potential to Realise Your Dream" in the Expo, Dr. Ella Chan, Director of the School, was invited to be the facilitator, and Yip Chui-shan, a student of Higher Diploma Programme in Health Products Management, shared her experiences of school life at CUSCS. Students from Hang Sang Management College, Hong Kong College of Technology and Hong Kong Art School also joined the session.

International Explorations |
50 Higher Diploma students participating in exchange and internship programmes departed for UK, Australia, Canada, USA, Mainland China and Taiwan for their summer explorations. CUSCS endeavours to provide students with a wide range of overseas and Mainland China exchange and internship opportunities through which students can broaden their horizons, gain work experience and enrich their lives.

Graduation Ceremony for the Bachelor Degree of Nursing |
The Graduation Ceremony for the Bachelor of Nursing degree, jointly offered by the School and La Trobe University in Australia, was held on 27 June at the Esther Lee Building, CUHK. We were privileged to have Professor John Dewar, Vice-Chancellor and President of La Trobe University, officiating at the ceremony.

CUSCS Alumna Has New Book Published |
Mak Sin-yu, alumna of Higher Diploma Programme in Chinese, received sponsorship from the Art Development Council to publish her second book, "誰能聽到我的痛" (Who Can Hear My Sorrow). The book was on sale at the Hong Kong Book Fair.
