Updated Student Activities
A Tour to ORBIS Flying Eye Hospital
 At SCS, students are provided with lots of opportunities designed to promote individual growth, creativity and personal connections through various learning scenarios. This October, 25 Higher Diploma Programme students boarded on the ORBIS Flying Eye Hospital, which paid a visit to Hong Kong for 11 days. The participants grabbed the chance to tour around the operation room, laser treatment room and recovery room with the company of ORBIS staff and ophthalmologists.
Academic Staff Retreat
 The School attaches much importance to the teaching quality and organises staff development seminars regularly for both its full-time and part-time staff to sharpen their teaching skills. On September 3, 2010, the School organised a one-day Academic Staff Retreat themed as "Outcome-based Teaching and Learning" for all full-time academic staff. Guest speakers sharing their teaching experience were Prof. Vincent Mok, Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, CUHK, awardees of the CUHK's "Teacher of the Year Award" 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, and Mr. Joseph Mohan, Senior Lecturer, Division of Commerce, Community College of City University of Hong Kong. There were also sharings by teachers and hands-on workshops at the retreat.

 The School is committed to offering a wide range of overseas and mainland study programmes for our students to enhance their global perspective. This October, the School announced its collaboration with the Office for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs, Peking University to organise a study programme at Peking University for our outstanding Higher Diploma Programme students at their second year. Participating students will study with Peking University students majoring in Chinese for an academic term. The programme is scheduled to commence in September 2011.
The 42nd Advisory Board Meeting
 The 42nd Meeting of Advisory Board of Continuing and Professional Studies was held on November 11, 2010. Prof. Joseph J Y Sung, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, hosted a luncheon with the board members after the meeting.
Celebrating Life-long Education
The Kick-off Ceremony of Advanced Development Academy
 November 13, 2010 saw the Kick-off Ceremony cum Alumni Award Presentation for the newly established Advanced Development Academy. The Ceremony was officiated by Dr. Leong Che-hung, Chairman of Elderly Commission. Other guests included Mr. Sit Hing-wah, Chairman, Hong Kong Health Care Association on Aging (HKAOA) and Honorary Advisor of the Academy, Mr. Lam Ching, Honorary Advisor of the Academy, as well as Dr. Maria Lee, SCS alumna. After the Kick-off Ceremony, Mr. Sit Hing-wah, representing HKAOA, signed the Memorandum of Understanding with Dr. Victor Lee, Director of the School, on "Hong Kong Culture and Health Care Tour". Dr. Maria Lee, then gave an inspiring sharing on her persistent pursuit of knowledge. Dr. Leong Che-hung, Dr. Victor Lee and Dr. S K Chan, Associate Director of the School, presented alumni awards to SCS students and alumni aged over 65, who have successfully completed 3 courses or more from the School, to congratulate their effort and determination to pursue life-long education.

 The School is committed to providing a comprehensive collection of corporate training programmes to meet the needs of various private and public organisations in Hong Kong and the Mainland. This November, the School offered a training programme for officials from Guangdong Procuratorate.
