ACCA Hong Kong Business Competition 2011 |
Team KEX, comprising Rex Chan Ho-yin, student of the Higher Diploma in Business and Human Resource Management, and Kevin Chan Ngo-yin, student of the Higher Diploma in Professional Accounting, won three awards in the ACCA Hong Kong Business Competition 2011 -- the 2nd Runner-up, Best Proposal and Best Budgeting.

Grand Prize in Korean Singing Contest |
Siu Ka-yi, student of the Higher Diploma in Applied Korean Language and Culture, took home the Grand Prize in the 2011 Korean Festival organised by the Korean Residents' Association on 22 October. The Festival is an annual major event among Koreans living in Hong Kong.

Spring Prospectus |
Our Spring Prospectus is now available at over 200 distribution points. In the 2012 Spring term, the School introduces a variety of new award-bearing programmes and general courses to meet learners' needs for professional enhancement and personal growth. For example, the "Professional Certificate Programme in Opthalmic Nursing", jointly organised by the School and the Hong Kong Baptist Hospital, aims to provide students with essential knowledge and skills for caring for ophthalmic patients. The "Certificate Programme in Business and Marketing on the Internet" caters for the emerging trends in e-commerce and internet marketing. Some examples of general courses include "i-Composing and i-Arranging", "DJ-ing with iPad", "Praising Approach to Managerial Leadership", "Management and Organisational Psychology", "Outdoor Landscape Painting in Oil and Acrylic", "Fundamental Print-making" and "Preparing for HKDSE Chinese Language (Intensive)".

A new discount scheme for alumni and staff of CUHK and CUSCS has been launched

Music Talks 2011 |
To nurture the public's interest in music, the School will launch a series of talks themed "Music Sharing - Finding Your Own Music". You can enroll in individual talks or purchase a "Music Pass" for all five talks delivered by distinguished performers.

CUHK Homecoming Day |
CUSCS' booth at the CUHK Homecoming Day, held on 4 December, was crowded with alumni playing at the game corner. The booth also introduced the Spring Prospectus as well as the newly launched alumni and staff discount scheme.

MyCUSCS Mobile Application Design Contest Successfully Concluded |
The MyCUSCS Mobile Application Design Contest Final was successfully held on 5 November. Yue Chun-fai and Ngan Wai-pui, F6 students of SKH St Mary's Church Mok Hing Yiu College, won the Champion of Secondary School Section and Fung Jin-pan was awarded the Champion in Open Section. The Best Performance School Award went to CUHKFAA Chan Chun Ha Secondary School.

Elderly Expo |
CUSCS participated in the Senior Citizen Career Expo organised by the Hong Kong Society for the Aged on 19 October. The CUSCS' booth introduced the School's Advanced Development Academy, which organises general courses catering for the needs of third-age learners. Our booth was well patronized by over 400 visitors.

Agreement Signing Ceremony with HK Baptist Hospital |
The School and Hong Kong Baptist Hospital signed an agreement on 24 October to announce the launch of the jointly organised "Professional Certificate Programme in Ophthalmic Nursing". Dr Victor Lee, Director of the School, and Dr Raymond Chen, Chief Executive Officer of HKBH, officiated at the Ceremony. Dr Fowie Ng, Head of Traditional Chinese Medicine & Health Care, attended the Ceremony. Other guests of HKBH included Dr Philip Lam Tsze-ho, Director of the Eye Centre, Ms Samantha Yuen, Chief Nursing Officer and Ms Suky Lo, Senior Nursing Officer.

Talks by Celebrities |
Learning from others' experience is one route to success. Mr Kevin Huang, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Pixel Media HK Limited, conducted a seminar on "Online and Mobile Advertising" on 29 October, in which he shared his experience in online marketing with our students.

Seminar Series for Financial Practitioners: Mr Paul Pong |
The "Seminar Series for Financial Practitioners", co-organised by the School and the Hong Kong Financial Services Professionals Association, was successfully held on 18 November. Mr Paul Pong, Managing Director of Pegasus Financial Services Ltd., delivered a talk on "Asset Allocation and Risk Diversification".

Higher Diploma Programmes Graduation Ceremony 2011 |
The Higher Diploma Programmes Graduation Ceremony was held at Sir Run Run Hall, CUHK, on 26 November. More than 1,800 guests, graduates and their family members attended the ceremony. The Ceremony was divided into two sessions. The morning session was arranged for graduates of the Art, Music & the Humanities Division, the Information Technology & Environment Division, the Languages & Translation Division, the Social Sciences & Public Administration Division and the Traditional Chinese Medicine & Health Care Division. We were privileged to have Ms Linda So, Principal Assistant Secretary (FE) of the Education Bureau present as the officiating guest.

Graduation Ceremony of Victoria University |
The School and Victoria University, Australia jointly organised the Bachelor of Business (Computer Systems Management) Programme in Hong Kong. The Graduation Ceremony for the Programme was held on 19 November at the Hyatt Regency, Tsim Sha Tsui. This year, we have 91 graduates and among them, 12 were presented with Outstanding Academic Performance Awards. We were honoured to welcome senior officers of Victoria University, including Prof David Lamond, Executive Dean of Faculty of Business and Law, and Mr John Bentley, Executive Director of the International Development Centre, as officiating guests at the Ceremony.

Graduation Exhibition |
The Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication Design) Programme is jointly offered by the School and the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. This year, 37 graduates held their graduation exhibition themed "Non Parallel" from 29 November to 1 December at Hong Kong City Hall. Mr Donald Welch, Convenor of Bachelor of Design Transnational Program of Griffith University and Dr Victor Lee, Director of the School officiated at the Opening Ceremony.

Alumni Association Highlights |
The Alumni Association recently organised the Marathon Training Workshop to gear up alumni for an upcoming race. Mr Gi Ka-man, a famous local runner, was invited as the instructor. The class started on 19 November and attracted a total of 38 alumni. In addition, over 80 members of our volunteer team joined the Haven of Hope Christian Service Qile Cake Sale on 3 and 4 December to raise funds for the elderly. Our booths located at Taikoo, Yau Ma Tei, Jordan, Causeway Bay and Diamond Hill respectively.

Our Alumni |
The tourism industry is always energetic and full of vigor. Tourism is a great way to meet people from all over the world and broaden horizons. The Higher Diploma Programme in Tourism and Hospitality Management is one of the School's most popular programmes. Many of our graduates attend local and overseas universities to further their studies in the field. Three of our graduates, Fiona Pak, Carol Lee and Jason Ng, are at present studying Bachelor Degrees in Tourism Management and Hotel Management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) respectively.
