CUSCS celebrates golden jubilee anniversary |
2015 marks the 50th golden jubilee anniversary of CUSCS and a series of activities will be held throughout the year. To kick off the wide array of celebratory activities, an Opening Ceremony for the 50th Golden Jubilee Anniversary was held on 5 March 2015 at CUSCS Central Learning Centre. It was officiated by Professor Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, and Mr. Brian Lo, Deputy Secretary for Education of HKSAR.

Design students shine in Fur Design Competition |
Chiu Tsz-ting, a student of Higher Diploma Programme in Fashion Design and Business, was named Winner of the Fur Combination Category in the Hong Kong Fur Design Competition 2015 held on 8 January 2015 while her classmate, Ng Yin-lam, snatched the Commercial Award.

Four
students and alumna of Higher Diploma Programme in Fashion Design and Business
and Higher Diploma Programme in Commercial Design won six awards in the 15th
Footwear Design Competition held on 20 January 2015 including the Overall
Champion, Gold and Bronze Awards in various categories.

Design alumna wins the Mickey Lee Fashion Illustration Award |
Gabriel Chan, alumna of Higher Diploma Programme in Fashion Design and Product Management*, was named the Winner of Mickey Lee Fashion Illustration Award presented by the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association.

CUSCS launches Applied Learning Programmes |
CUSCS will launch two Applied Learning Programmes for secondary students in September. The "Entrepreneurship for SME" Programme aims to introduce students to the theory of entrepreneurship and business practice in Hong Kong. The "Magazine Editing and Production" Programme aims to help students experience the process of editing and production of magazines. These two programmes are facilitated by CUSCS lecturers.

Industrial Mentorship Programme helps students to chart their career development |
CUSCS launched the Industrial Mentorship Programme last November to provide students with the opportunity to meet professionals from different industries. Students will definitely benefit from mentors' sharing of expertise and their experience.

Top-up students of media and communication graduate |
The Award Presentation Ceremony of Bachelor of Media and Communication Programme offered by CUSCS and the Queensland University of Technology was held on 15 December 2014 at the Lecture Theatre, Yasumoto International Academic Park, CUHK. Professor Brian McNair, Professor of Journalism, Media & Communication, Creative Industries Faculty, QUT, Dr. Ella Chan, Director of the School, and Dr. Vaugham Mak, Head of Global Connections and Development of the School, officiated at the ceremony. Degrees were conferred upon 20 graduates of the programme.

CUSCS booth receives overwhelming response at CUHK Homecoming Day |
CUSCS organized a booth at the CUHK Homecoming Day on 29 November 2014. More than 250 alumni and their family members visited the booth to do puzzles, play matching games and take photos in Korean Hanbok.

Congratulations to Higher Diploma graduates of 2014 |
The Higher Diploma Programmes Graduation Ceremony was concluded at the Sir Run Run Shaw Hall, CUHK, on 15 November 2014. Some 1,600 graduates shared their joy with guests and family members on this memorable occasion.

Business & Management students participate in JA Trade Fair |
CUSCS encourages students to learn outside the classroom. Business and Management students participated in the Junior Achievement Hong Kong (JA) Company Programme Trade Fair 2014 held on 13 December 2014 at Charter Garden in Central. Students operated a booth selling their products through which they developed and learnt much experientially about teamwork and entrepreneurship.

Reaching out to the world to serve and to learn |
CUSCS provides students with plentiful opportunities to participate in offshore service learning programmes and study tours for them to enhance their personal growth. In January, 23 students joined a service learning tour to Cambodia to visit orphans suffering from different illnesses while in February, 26 students joined the Sichuan study tour to visit the elderly home, meet with local university students and learn more about Chinese culture and tradition.

Follow your heart in finding your path |
Follow your heart and your dream will come true. With a fond interest in the hotel industry, Emily Tam, alumna of Bachelor of Business (Hotel Management) Programme jointly offered by CUSCS and Griffith University (GU), Australia, gave up the opportunities to study business at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong but chose GU's programme upon graduation from her Associate Degree. She also chose to finish her last semester at the GU campus in Australia and now, she's working at a renowned hotel in Gold Coast, Australia.
