Prof. Eric Thomas (left), Vice-Chancellor, and Dr. Robert Partridge, Academic Registrar, University of Bristol (Bristol), UK, visited CUHK on 12 January 2012 and met with Prof. Joseph Sung (right), Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Hau Kit Tai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Fung Tung, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor, and other CUHK representatives to build and deepen collaborations between CUHK and Bristol through the Worldwide Universities Network.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is a member of the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN), an exclusive network of 18 research-led universities across seven countries. WUN's mission is to be one of the world's leading higher education networks, collaborating to accelerate the creation of knowledge and develop leaders prepared to address the significant challenges, and opportunities, of our rapidly changing world. WUN creates new, multilateral opportunities for international collaboration in research and graduate education. From this issue onwards, the Office of Academic Links will bring you news about the University's activities and developments in the Network and of its member universities, including:

News on student exchange
Exchange students visited the Avenue of Stars on 7 January 2012.

At the start of 2012, over 270 international and Chinese students embarked on a new learning journey in Hong Kong at CUHK. The Office of Academic Links organised an orientation programme from 3–7 January 2012 to familiarise these students with CUHK's environment and support for learning.

Past visits:

  • The Office of Academic Links (OAL) received 11 visiting delegations between 28 December 2011 and 26 February 2012. The delegations learnt about CUHK's teaching and research priorities and explored opportunities for collaboration with CUHK representatives.

  • OAL maintains a database of incoming delegation visits and exchange agreements with non-local institutions. You may find such information useful when exploring partnership opportunities with non-local institutions.
