The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) strengthens research ties with the University of Bristol, a member of the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) by establishing bilateral staff and student mobility programmes.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is a member of the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN), an exclusive network of 18 research-led universities across seven countries. WUN's mission is to be one of the world's leading higher education networks, collaborating to accelerate the creation of knowledge and develop leaders prepared to address the significant challenges, and opportunities, of our rapidly changing world. WUN creates new, multilateral opportunities for international collaboration in research and graduate education. From this issue onwards, the Office of Academic Links will bring you news about the University's activities and developments in the Network and of its member universities, including:

• Conferences and meetings
• Research mobility programmes
• Research groups
• Visits from WUN member universities

At the start of 2012, over 270 international and Chinese students embarked on a new learning journey in Hong Kong at CUHK. The Office of Academic Links organised an orientation programme from 3–7 January 2012 to familiarise these students with CUHK's environment and support for learning.

Past visits:

• The Office of Academic Links (OAL) received 11 visiting delegations between 28 December 2011 and 26 February 2012. The delegations learnt about CUHK's teaching and research priorities and explored opportunities for collaboration with CUHK representatives.

Survey on incoming visitors (1 August 2011 to 31 January 2012):

• OAL maintains a database of incoming delegation visits and exchange agreements with non-local institutions. You may find such information useful when exploring partnership opportunities with non-local institutions. In order to help us keep an up-to-date record of international linkage activities, we encourage you to provide us with details of any visit or exchange activity by filling in the "Record Form for Incoming Visitors".
