 "I had been a shy person since I was young, especially when I met foreigners.  I was just too nervous to talk to them in English.  But now I know I can do it!" Phoenix Lam, a student of Higher Diploma Programme in Chinese Journalism, shared what she gained from the "Summer Service and Learning Programme in Rural China" organised by Tsinghua University, Beijing.
Design students shine in the 31st HK Watch & Clock Design Competition

 Wan Nok-yiu, student of Higher Diploma Programme in Commercial Design, was crowned champion of the Student Group category of the 31st HK Watch & Clock Design Competition.  Her design, entitled "Essence", is described as "a watch which demonstrates your own attitude towards life and reminds you of your own stance".  Her classmates, Ahmat Winkie and Wong Sin-mui, won the 2nd Runner-up and Merit Award respectively in the Competition.

 The Higher Diploma Programmes Inauguration Ceremony and Orientation was held at the Sir Run Run Shaw Hall, CUHK, on 3 September.  Prof. Benjamin W. Wah, Provost of CUHK, and Dr. Ella Chan, Director of the School, officiated at the ceremony.  In the orientation session that followed, Mr. Choy Chi-fai, Managing Director, Truth & Faith International Limited and Programme Advisor of Higher Diploma Programme in Health Products Management, shared his experience on how he achieved his goals.  
Griffith University Graduation Ceremony and Orientation
We have graduated!
 CUSCS and Griffith University, Australia, jointly organise several Top-up Undergraduate Degree Programmes in Hong Kong, namely Bachelor of Business (Hotel Management), Bachelor of Business (Event Management), Bachelor of Business (Management), Bachelor of Business (Marketing) and Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication Design).  The Graduation Ceremony was held on 20 September at the Sir Run Run Shaw Hall, CUHK.

Graduation Ceremony of Top-up Undergraduate Degree Programmes offered by CUSCS and Flinders University
 CUSCS and Flinders University jointly offer two Top-up Undergraduate Degree Programmes in Hong Kong, namely the Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Digital Media). The Graduation Ceremony was held at the Lecture Theatre, Shaw College, CUHK, on 30 October.  Mr. Stephen Gerlach, Chancellor of Flinders University, Prof. Michael Barber, Vice-Chancellor of Flinders University, and Dr. Ella Chan, Director of the School, officiated at the Ceremony.  Degrees were conferred upon 47 graduates.  Man Chui-yu, Fong Kin-keung and Cheung Pak-hung, graduates of Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting), were awarded the Flinders Business School Prize and CPA Australia Excellence Award respectively while Brian Maxwell, graduate of Bachelor of Creative Arts (Digital Media) was awarded the Flinders Digital Media Prize.

Our local top-up degree programme students hang out with exchange students from Griffith University to experience Hong Kong
 Seven students from Griffith University, Australia came to Hong Kong to attend lectures with our top-up undergraduate students between June and July.  Seven top-up students served as ambassadors and hung out with these exchange students to experience Hong Kong.  
Devoted students and alumni to serve the community
Our students and alumni of Higher Diploma Programmes volunteer to produce a promotion video for the Hong Kong Society for the Blind
 A group of seven students and alumni of Higher Diploma Programmes have recently participated in voluntary service for the Hong Kong Society for the Blind.  The group comprised three current students of Higher Diploma Programme in Human Services and Higher Diploma Programme in Multimedia and Creative Advertising as well as four alumni of Higher Diploma Programme in Applied Translation Studies, Higher Diploma Programme in Chinese Journalism and Higher Diploma Programme in Multimedia and Creative Advertising programmes.  In order to produce a promotion video of the Society, they started the production from scratch, from interview, scriptwriting, shooting to video production.

 Jerry Wong, an alumnus of Higher Diploma Programme in Human Resources Management and Bachelor of Business (Management) Programme offered by the School and Griffith University, Australia, will soon embark on his career as Financial Services Trainee at Hang Seng Bank, a highly enviable position for business undergraduate students.
