Helping Hand to Sichuan
To the victims of the devastating earthquake that hit the Sichuan province, the CUHK alumni community has always been united as one in lending a helping hand.

CU alumni have rendered their help and support in various ways subsequent to the disaster. Enquiries and response to the donation appeal of the Vice-Chancellor to the University's earthquake relief fund have been overwhelming. Individual alumni such as Mr Victor Choi (NA/77/BBA),eminent antique collector, had donated copies of his book "Horses for Eternity" on ancient Chinese pottery horses for sale to raise funds for the cause.

A number of alumni groups have also been actively involved in various initiatives in support of the quake relief work. Locally, the CUHK Convocation, the Federation of Alumni Associations of CUHK (FAA) and New Asia College Alumni Association had mobilized fellow alumni to make donations for the cause. The Baby Bamboo Operation, the not-for-profit operation of the FAA's Education Foundation addressing educational needs for poverty-stricken areas in China, has been assisting the rebuilding of schools in the affected areas. Outside of Hong Kong, the Overseas Alumni Association of the CUHK (Northern California) is working on a joint fund-raising event to help victims of the Sichuan earthquake. The CUHK Alumni Association (Ontario) has also pledged to make a donation from their concerted effort.

In face of the disaster, CUHK alumni have shown their loving and caring spirit to the victims who are desperately in need of help. Since re-building will be long and ongoing, your continuous support to the cause does matter!
