Social English Meet-up
On 23 September 2014, the English Language Teaching Unit organized an event named "Social English Meet-up", which aims at providing participants with an opportunity to improve their social English skills in a casual and stress-free environment. Over 40 students participated in the event and more than 10 international students served as our ambassadors.
The theme of the event was "Festivals around the World", and a range of group activities were designed to encourage mingling among participants.
The ELTU were honored to have our Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Sung, joining us for the relaxing evening. He not only shared with the participants his favorite festival, but also joined all the group activities as a member!

Movie Appreciation Night with VC
On 23 October 2014, the English Language Teaching Unit organized an event entitled "Movie Appreciation Night with our VC". The VC shared with the participants segments of one of his favorite movies, "Dead Poets Society", in memory of Robin Williams. In order to facilitate students to understand the message behind the movie and be inspired, they were invited to discuss issues such as the meaning of education and their best favourite teachers after the movie.
