The quality of life in Hong Kong generally declined in the past year. The Economic sub-index has decreased to its second-lowest on record; the Social sub-index and the Culture and Leisure sub-index have increased to the highest on record.

The Last Generation of the Majie (Cantonese Amahs) in Hong Kong: An Oral History Project

Led by Prof. Yip Hon-ming, Honorary Advisor of Gender Research Centre and Dr. Sally Ka-wing Lo, Postdoctoral Fellow at Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, this project is an oral history research on "majie," the Cantonese spinsters-amahs, who have left important traces in understanding the family history of Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau, and Southeast Asia. The project is made possible by a generous donation by United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia.
Study on Public Attitudes towards Female Political Leadership

Led by Prof. Song Jing and Dr. Sally Ka-wing Lo, this project aims to study the public views of desired qualities of political leaders in Hong Kong and to identify perceived structural barriers faced by women in attaining political leadership. The research project is commissioned by Equal Opportunities Commission.
