Budding Designers on Show

Fifty graduating students of our Higher Diploma Programme in Commercial Design participated in a graduate exhibition entitled "TeleMicro" held at City Hall from July 13 to 15, 2010, exploring their creative boundaries.

The students were required to showcase ideas for the Kwun Tong Town Centre Redevelopment Project to reflect the characteristics of Hong Kong culture. Over 600 pieces of work were put on display, ranging from graphic design and 3D-images to short movies with various themes. This exhibition was presented under the rental subsidy scheme of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.


Officiating guests included Mr. Jimmy C. F. Leung, JP, Director of Planning, Planning Department, Government of the HKSAR; Dr. Tai-keung Kan BBS, Dean of the Cheung Kong School of Art and Design, Shantou University; Professor Puay-peng Ho, Director of the School of Architecture, CUHK; and Dr. Victor Lee, Director of the SCS.


Chan Nga Man, winner of the Grand Prize of Design and creator of "Kwun Tong Reconstruct Exhibition" remarked, "I am very surprised to receive this prize because of the difficulties experienced at the beginning of the project. However, this recognition brings me intense satisfaction. I am glad that I chose to study design at the SCS for the past three years. The programme has equipped me with skills other than design, such as advertising production and photography etc. They will all be very useful for my future career."
