Welcoming new incoming exchange students
At the start of 2012, over 270 international and Chinese students embarked on a new learning journey in Hong Kong at CUHK. The Office of Academic Links (OAL) organised an orientation programme from 3–7 January 2012 to familiarise these students with CUHK's environment and support for learning.
Professor Jack Cheng, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, welcomed the students at the orientation programme while representatives of various units introduced facilities and services available. OAL colleagues provided tips on surviving in our busy city and helped students to finalise their course registration. Many of the students experienced their first Chinese banquet, which was held at S.H. Ho College, during the programme, while the Master of the College, Prof. Samuel Sun, spoke about CUHK's unique college system, particularly that of S. H. Ho College.
Exchange students explore Hong Kong through cultural activities
To enrich the cultural experience for incoming exchange students, OAL held a series of activities over different weekends in January and February. During visits to the Hong Kong Museum of History and Ping Shan, students learned about the development of Hong Kong. During excursions to Lamma Island and Cheung Chau, they had a taste of seafood cuisine and experienced the beautiful natural scenery on the islands.
