"Watoto is a holistic care programme that was initiated as a response to the overwhelming number of orphaned children and vulnerable women in Africa. It is positioned to rescue an individual, raise each one as a leader in their chosen sphere of life so that they in turn will build their nation," said Rev. Sunny Cheng, Country Director of Watoto Asia. "The Watoto model provides for physical care, medical intervention (including HIV/AIDS treatment), education (formal and vocational), counseling and emotional well-being, moral and spiritual discipleship."
Landon Chan and Judy Lam, Medical students at SH Ho College, shared with the audiences the Uganda Service Trip they participated in during the summer break. They were impressed by Watoto's trauma rehabilitation project in Gulu, the war-affected community in which children were turned into weapons of terror against their families and communities. Watoto partners with the local government on town planning and medical intervention initiatives.
Before the concert came to the end, the Watoto choir sang a Mandarin song "The Sun above the Clouds" and gained warm applause from the audience. The song featured the unfailing hope of the children.
"High above the rain
the sun stays the same
Tearful raindrops will be dried away
High above the rain
the sun stays the same"
