Founded by Professor Sir Charles Kao in 1991, the Faculty of Engineering has a proud history of training scientific research professionals who serve society and pursue groundbreaking research that can change the world. Today it has built up its reputation for excellence in education and research, and also become one of the top engineering schools in the region. Over hundreds of our faculty members and researchers focus on applying new technology to tackle grand engineering challenges and teaching students with passion. Many of our graduates have established technology start-ups and shine brightly in the field. It is with great pride that we celebrate this historic milestone for the Faculty by launching the CUE newsletter. It aims to inform academia, industry and the public of our key achievements and contributions to society. The CUE newsletter is a triannual summation and should be of interest to anyone curious about engineering and science. As part of the 25th anniversary celebration, we held a competition for an anniversary logo. The winner was undergraduate student LIU Yee Tsun from Computer Science and Engineering: the colours of the University (purple and gold) are adopted in his design. Please visit our anniversary website for more information and join us in the celebration. K. F.
