| SBS Research Day 2012 cum Cancer and Inflammation 2012 Symposium | |

Officiated by Prof. Fok Tai-fai, Dean of Medicine and Prof. Chan Wai-yee, the third School of Biomedical Sciences Research Day in conjunction with a Cancer and Inflammation 2012 Symposium were held on 4 and 5 June 2012. The event was well attended by more than 250 participants including those from the School, thematic Associate Members from clinical departments and also guests from the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Baptist University. To further promote scientific interactions and working relationships outside Hong Kong, we invited Prof. Chen Yeguang, Deputy Dean, School of Life Sciences, Tsinghua University, China, as the Plenary Lecturer for the Research Day 2012. In addition, 14 delegates led by Prof. Zhan Qimin, Chinese Academician and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Molecular Oncology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, China also joined the event as a reciprocal visit following our School's participation in the 1st Cancer and Microenvironment Forum held in Beijing on 11 April 2011. Members (including clinical Associate Members) of our "Cancer and Inflammation" and "Reproduction, Development and Endocrinology" Programs gave oral presentations during the event whereas members of our "Neuro-degeneration, -development and Repair", "Stem Cell and Regeneration" and "Vascular and Metabolic Biology" Programs shared their research work through either poster or oral presentations. |
