The Conference, the largest of its kind in Hong Kong, aims to promote international academic exchange among South Korea, Hong Kong and mainland China. Nearly 100 leading academics and participants from the aforesaid regions assembled to take part in lectures on over 30 topics regarding Korean language and culture, such as "Korean Second Language Acquisition" and "Multiculturalism in Korea".
Notably, Ms Lisa Lee, Head of the Korean Language Education and Culture Centre (KLECC) of the School, presented the findings of her empirical study, entitled "The Present and Future of Korean Education in Hong Kong," on the learning status of 128 full- and part-time Korean language learners in Hong Kong. Ms Lee identified five key development areas necessary for cultivating Korean language education in the region.
The School has been the pioneer in Korean language education in Hong Kong, offering Korean courses for more than 10 years. In 2010, the KLECC was conferred as a King Sejong Institute in Hong Kong by the Korean Government for the very high quality of the School's Korean language teaching.
