Consultancy for the U.K. Government and Global Fund Projects on HIV Prevention in China

Professor Joseph Lau, Associate Director of the School and Head of the Division of Health Improvement was invited by the Department of International Development (DFID) to serve as one of the three international external consultants for the Project Completion Review of the 2007-2011 HIV Project which was supported the DFID and the Global Fund Round Four.

The Project, with a budget of 30 million pounds, covered 126 counties in the seven provinces of Yunnan, Sichuan, Guangxi, Xinjiang, Jiangxi, Hunan and Shanxi. During the consultancy trip from April 12 to April 27, Professor Lau made exchanges with senior leaders of the Minister of Health at national, provincial, city and country levels, as well as senior officials of international organizations including, UNAIDS, UNESCO and Family Health International. Whilst the School improves population health through training and research, its contributions through services including high level international consultancy are equally prominent.
