Community Responses and Preparedness to the Human Swine Influenza Epidemic in HK

The School of Public Health at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) has conducted a survey during May 7-9 2009 to assess the general public's responses to the emerging human swine flu (Influenza A H1N1) epidemic. A press conference was held to elaborate this study on 15 May 2009.

The survey includes topics such as whether the general public is complacent or has been underestimating the risk; how does the general public rate the government's reaction to the epidemic; whether the public is in panic; whether the public is vigilant in the prevention, as well as whether there are special concerns in the minds of the public. The School of Public Health will continue to monitor changes in relevant perceptions and behaviours over time.
