A fund of HK$3.43 million has been granted to the School under the Education Bureau's Quality Enhancement Grant Scheme to set up Design Innovation Centre and Virtual Classroom and On-demand Learning System over the next two years. The Design Innovation Centre aims to provide facilities in enhancing learning experience of our students of Higher Diploma Programme in Commercial Design as well as Higher Diploma Programme in Fashion Design and Product Development. The Centre serves to strengthen the students' hands-on design skills by offering different computer software and design equipment. The Virtual Classroom and On-Demand Learning System aims to provide a blended learning environment that engages instructors and students on and off campus. This platform allows instructors to conduct online class sessions anytime and anywhere, providing a self-paced learning option for students to study according to their own interest, progress, pace and time schedule. The grant confirms government recognition of the School's contribution in providing quality education to the society.
What's more? The School's Korean Language Education and Culture Centre (KLECC) has successfully passed through a series of assessment and was recognised by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Republic of Korea, as King Sejong Institute for its uncompromising quality of Korean teaching. KLECC is the world's first institution under a university system to be accredited. Established in November 2008, KLECC is the first centre in Hong Kong that is open to the public for the promotion of Korean language and culture. It provides a cozy study environment for Korean learners with abundant resources including various teaching tools and information on studying in Korea. It has also organised a series of activities to promote the Korean language and culture. The upcoming activity, the 6th Korean Speech Contest, will be held on December 11, 2010.
