In cooperation with Radio Television Hong Kong and the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, the Faculty held a pre-screening of a RTHK's programme "Outstanding Chinese Writers" on 24 September 2014. The new programme features how the literary creations of selected renowned Chinese writers reflect the social and historical background at a certain time.
Over 100 students, alumni and teachers from the Department watched the first episode of the programme 《名字的玫瑰 —"董啟章"地圖》about the story of Mr. Dung Kai Cheung, a novelist dubbed as the "Author of the Year" of the Hong Kong Book Fair. It tells Dung's creative journey which testifies to the dramatic societal changes in Hong Kong.
An in-depth discussion with the three guest speakers Prof. Wong Nim Yan, Prof. Fan Sin Pui and Dr. Yip Ka Wing and two alumni followed the screening. They shared their thoughts on the programme and encouraged students to think behind the literary works while reading them.
Mr Lo Chi Wa, Executive Director and Ms Sharon Lo, Programme Assistant also attended the screening.
