Dr. David Li Kwok-po, Overseer of the College and Chairman and Chief Executive of The Bank of East Asia, made a speech on his life in public service to the 600 students, staff members and guests who attended the High Table Dinner at Ho Sin Hang Hall on 16 October.
"I am very grateful for the opportunities that I have had during my career to work with people from different backgrounds and different walks of life, with the aim of making a positive contribution to society and to people's lives. Through the St. James Settlement, the Salvation Army, the Friends of Cambridge, the Red Cross, the Community Chest, the Asian Youth Orchestra – and many other organisations that I have had the good fortune to serve over the years – I have met incredibly committed and capable individuals, from whom I have learned a great deal. Together, we have created opportunities that changed people's lives for the better," said Dr. Li, "I am inspired every time I see the response of those who are provided with a fresh opportunity. I cannot recommend a better path. Get involved in your community. Help to make a difference. You will be very glad that you did." |
