WUN Research Development Fund 2013

The internal application for the WUN Research Development Fund (RDF) 2013 is now opened. The WUN RDF offers seeding fund to kick-start collaborative research projects under the four WUN Global Challenges, namely "Adapting to Climate Change", "Global Higher Education and Research", "Public Health and Non-Communicable Diseases", and "Understanding Cultures".

Applicants are invited to submit preliminary proposals of their projects which will be reviewed internally and approved by the University. Once selected, the applicants will complete a detailed set of application provided by the Network. A maximum of three nominations will be submitted by CUHK to WUN by the end of October 2013.

Terms of Award

  • An award of up to £15,000 will be offered by WUN to each selected project from an overall fund of over £200,000.
  • An award from the RDF will be matched by funding provided by CUHK (up to the value awarded by WUN and only for projects led by CUHK).

In 2012, the three applications led by CUHK were supported by WUN. In addition, 10 CUHK researchers were invited to participate in eight projects led by other WUN member universities.

CUHK application deadline is Wednesday, 18 September 2013. For more information, please visit www.oal.cuhk.edu.hk/index.php/partnerships/wun/funding-opportunities.

Research Mobility Programmes for 2013–14

CUHK has a number of research mobility programmes in place that aim to facilitate joint research and develop new collaborations. They include the Global Scholarship Programme for Research Excellence, PhD Student Exchange Programme, and Short-term Faculty Exchange Programme. For the latter two programmes, CUHK partners with WUN member universities including the University of Bristol, University of Leeds, and University of Sydney.

Applications to these programmes for 2013–14 were concluded in April 2013. A total of 13 applications from CUHK were supported and in return, CUHK will host one PhD student from the University of Bristol and two faculty members from the University of Bristol and the University of Sydney respectively.
