I. Cosy Up This Autumn: Let’s Talk, Laugh, and Connect!
To encourage open dialogue and learning from each other, Professor WONG Suk Ying, the College Master, initiated a series of casual meetings in autumn, providing students with opportunities to engage in group discussions and exchange ideas in a lively and interactive setting.
II. End-of-term Dinner cum Thanksgiving Gathering
The CWC End-of-Term Dinner and Thanksgiving Gathering on 26 November 2024 was organised to celebrate the conclusion of the term and to give thanks; it also served as a farewell dinner for the Term 1 incoming exchange students.
A total of 144 participants, including Professor WONG Suk Ying, the College Master, Professor Vincent CHEUNG, Dean of Students, Professor Jeremy TEOH, Warden, Professor Andrew CHAN, Chair of the External Links and Exchange Committee, Professor Kenneth YOUNG, Professor Harold NOONAN, a visiting professor from the University of Nottingham, College staff and Resident Tutors attended this heartwarming event.
Two incoming exchange students from Stanford University, Mr Lucas Adam SHUMAN and Miss Emily Massiel RODRIGUEZ served as student hosts to introduce the history and customs of Thanksgiving in the United States for College members. Participants enjoyed a festive gathering with turkey, pies and a quiz game. Students also wrote encouraging notes to uplift each other for the upcoming final exam during the dinner.
III. Join Us for Asian Soup Night
This event provided CWC students with the warmth of family through healthy, nutritious soup, aiming to inspire students to adopt healthier eating habits in College. The students not only learned how to select fresh ingredients and basic soup-making techniques, but also had the opportunity to make new friends by sharing their experiences with soup tasting and discussing the diverse ingredients used in soups from around the world, thus creating a meaningful and nourishing communal experience.
The College invited all CWC students to submit proposals for student activities and form interest clubs to enhance the College community and create memorable experiences. 'Join Us for Asian Soup Night', submitted by two CWC students, LO Man Hei (Year 1, Medicine) and PANG Tsz Tung (Year 2, Medicine), has been approved and subsidised by the College Life Committee.
IV. Floor Gathering in Celebration of the Lantern Festival
On 10 February 2025, the CWC Hostel Pantry was filled with laughter and joy as students gathered for an evening of traditional desserts and games in celebration of the Lantern Festival.
22 participants not only enjoyed the delicious glutinous rice balls, which symbolize reunion and togetherness, but also engaged in the game of guessing lantern riddles, showcasing their creativity and quick thinking.
The event, hosted by our Resident Tutor, Ryan GUO, brought everyone closer and fostered a sense of community and cultural appreciation.
