Significant Collections Acquisition
 
This richly illustrated first English edition details the embassies of Balthasar Bort and Pieter van Hoorn to China on behalf of the Dutch East India Company. It provides comprehensive and detailed descriptions of China that highlight its wide popularity and influence. This edition includes the complete set of 38 plates and more than 50 intricate illustrations embedded in the text, which portray a wide range of subjects such as topography, ethnology, religion, politics, and botany. The book thus serves as a significant historical record of 17th century diplomatic missions aimed at securing trade relations with China, reflecting both the cultural and commercial aspects of encounters between Europe and China during this period.




This book is based on the Guangdong Historical Authors’ Essential Records (covering both Guangzhou prefecture and surrounding areas) and compiles the Collected Works of historical authors from Guangdong. This compilation is intended to present the overall achievements and historical landscape of literary creation in Guangdong throughout history while highlighting Guangdong’s prominent literary tradition.

Alternate Name: Journal of Visualised Experiments

This journal provides engaging animations that explain fundamental concepts, including drug effects, classifications, and pharmacokinetics. Scientist-in-action videos illustrate the real-world research conducted in modern laboratories.



 Database of Chinese Communist Party Ideological and Theoretical Resources (Coverage: 1949-Present)

Developed by the People’s Publishing House, the database contains a complete and systematic collection of the main works and documents informing the Party’s ideology and theory, including all the classic works of Marxism–Leninism published in China, all the works of main Party and national leaders, all central and publicly available documents, and all national laws and regulations. The database also contains many representative research works, works on the history of the Party and the international communist movement, materials involving important figures, and important books published during the revolutionary war.



 Rural Studies Database (Coverage: 1949-Present)    

Drawing on the results of the Three Rural Issues, Village Survey, and Small and Medium-sized City Survey, this database includes three basic sub-databases: Three Rural Issues Research Database, Village Survey Research Database, and County and City Survey Research Database. The Three Rural Issues are analysed, village and county conditions are comprehensively displayed, ,village laws and urban–rural evolution are explored, and future development directions of rural areas are predicted. The database also provides theoretical and field research support for the formulation of practical rural policy countermeasures. It includes survey reports and data, folk and official documents, chronicles, oral materials, and other resources.



 Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Development Database (Coverage: 2000s-Present)

This database, which mainly comprises in-depth academic research resources, is an extremely important and in-depth academic resource aggregation platform for the coordinated development strategy of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei. Using the outline for the Coordinated Development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei as the basis, the database analyses the current situation and overall layout of the three regions and explains their future development paths in terms of regional transportation, industrial upgrading, ecological environment, public services, population size, and innovative development. The database also collects relevant resources from other urban agglomerations, such as the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta, as references.
 Poverty Alleviation Database (Coverage: 1980s-Present)

This database is based on poverty research results published by the Social Sciences Academic Press. It includes four first-level sub-databases: Academic Research Database, Poverty Reduction Archive Database, Policy Information Database, and Poverty Alleviation Encyclopaedia. The database includes academic resources such as poverty research models, causes of poverty, poverty reduction paths, poverty reduction research conducted by foreign think tanks, and international poverty reduction. It also covers 832 national key counties targeted for poverty alleviation and development and those in contiguous poverty-stricken areas and 14 contiguous poverty-stricken areas and includes Chinese and foreign poverty reduction cases and analyses, poverty reduction data charts, disaster and poverty reduction, poverty reduction videos and other research archives, national and local poverty reduction policy files, as well as the latest information, expert opinions and comments, and other policy information. The database’s poverty reduction map provides a panoramic view of the distribution of poverty-stricken areas, and the locations and basic situations of poverty-stricken counties. The open poverty alleviation encyclopaedia explains poverty alleviation-related concepts, events, and images in detail.



 Shinkenchiku Data (Coverage: 1925-Present)

Shinkenchiku.DATA is a service that allows the user to browse and search for architectural projects published in the magazines Shinkenchiku, Jutakutokushu, and a+u.
 Chinese Dictionary Compendium

This collection includes more than 120 volumes of Chinese dictionaries and ancient and modern Chinese reference materials, including The Great Chinese Dictionary (first and revised editions), Ancient Chinese Dictionary, Kangxi Dictionary, The Great Dictionary of Chinese History, and The Great Dictionary of Chinese Philosophy.
